Precision Paper Converters (PPC) completed a $5.8 million expansion of its facial tissue converting facility in Kaukauna, Wisconsin and the installation of a new facial tissue interfolder and new Langen cartoner.

According to PPC, the Bretting interfolder, named “VARiUM”, is the first of its kind in North America and the machine allows for variable cutoff lengths and folded panel widths. Additional capabilities of the new interfolder include:

– In-line calendaring
– Use of 1-ply or 2-ply rolls
– Automated starter sheets
– Quick changeovers
– Multiple web width capabilities

The new equipment is also designed to improve ergonomics and safety levels for operators, PPC added.

Startup began in late-October, and PPC expects to be running at full speed in the first quarter of 2017.
