Metsä Fibre to modernise cooking system at Kemi bioproduct mill

Metsä Fibre plans to modernise the cooking system at its Kemi bioproduct mill in Finland. The upgraded cooking system is scheduled to start up during the fourth quarter of 2026.

According to the company, the investment is aimed at improving operational reliability, material efficiency and production flexibility at the Kemi mill. “The modernisation will support the availability and material efficiency of the Kemi bioproduct mill, increase flexibility in raw material usage and support the mill’s planned production levels,” said Ismo Nousiainen, CEO of Metsä Fibre.

The Kemi bioproduct mill is one of Metsä Group’s flagship investments and plays a central role in the company’s long-term strategy focused on resource efficiency, modern production technologies and sustainable pulp manufacturing.
