CHT Group to showcase sustainable paper solutions at MIAC 2026 in Italy
CHT Group will present its latest sustainable solutions for the tissue and packaging industries at MIAC 2026, taking place in Lucca, Italy, from 7 to 9 October. The company will welcome visitors at booth C60.
The portfolio on display will include new water-treatment technology, sustainable barrier coatings, energy-saving enzyme systems and a programme designed to control stickies in paper production.
New water-treatment technology
Clean water circuits are essential for reliable paper production, while microbiological contamination can cause downtime and increase the frequency of cleaning. CHT has developed BIOTIKOS as a new approach to water treatment intended to provide a more sustainable alternative to conventional programmes based on oxidising agents, isothiazolinones or DBNPA.
BIOLAY barrier products
The latest generation of BIOLAY barrier products has been developed to meet regulatory requirements including the Single-Use Plastics Directive (EU) 2019/904 and the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40.
The products provide grease and oil barriers for fast-food packaging and, according to CHT, are free from synthetically produced compounds and fluorocarbons, as well as being biodegradable. Their performance can be adapted using the company’s plant-based CHT-COAT WAX emulsions, which are paraffin-free and biodegradable.
Energy-saving enzyme technology
CHT will also present its QUIMIZIME and ZIAX enzyme technologies, developed to reduce refining energy, chemical, fibre and water consumption while supporting gentle fibre fibrillation and higher strength properties.
The enzymes can be used with virgin and recycled fibre in packaging and tissue mills. Depending on the application, the technologies can support faster drainage, lower mechanical refining energy and improved mechanical properties in paper and board.
Stickies control
The company’s new TUXOL PSR-70 DE felt and wire treatment agent, supported by CHT-FIX 100T, is designed to prevent stickies and improve production efficiency. CHT said the programme can contribute to higher fibre yield, longer felt and wire life, reduced machine downtime and lower water, steam and energy consumption through improved drainage.
CHT Group is a privately owned specialty chemicals manufacturer headquartered in Tübingen, Germany. It employs approximately 2,500 people and operates 26 production sites. The Group reported revenue of EUR 572 million in 2025.
