AFT improves tissue strength and reduces fiber consumption at Partex Tissue in Bangladesh

AFT (Aikawa Fiber Technologies) announced the successful completion of a tissue optimization project at Partex Tissue Limited, part of the Partex Star Group, located in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Partex Tissue operates a 100 TPD tissue plant producing hygienic tissue products for the domestic market, based on European machinery and modern production lines. The company positions itself as a premium local alternative to imported brands, with a strong focus on product quality and hygiene standards.
Prior to the project, the mill faced challenges related to paper strength and refining efficiency for both long and short fibers. The existing refining line included two double disc refiners and one deflaker, resulting in suboptimal performance and relatively high energy consumption.
To address these issues, AFT proposed a cost-effective solution based on the installation of a MaxEdge™ refiner equipped with patented Finebar® refiner segments. The system enables combined refining of hardwood and softwood fibers, improving process efficiency and product performance. Commissioning was successfully completed in early March 2026.
Measurable performance improvements
The project delivered significant and measurable results across key operational parameters:
- Tissue quality improved, supporting the production of premium hygienic products
- Paper strength increased by approximately 30%
- Long fiber consumption reduced by more than 65%
- Energy savings exceeded 20%
The mill achieved higher strength targets while significantly reducing the share of long fiber, maintaining overall energy consumption at similar levels by shutting down one refiner. Based on current performance, the investment is expected to achieve a payback period of less than one year.
The team at Partex Tissue expressed strong appreciation for AFT’s technical support and collaborative approach throughout the project.
“Our philosophy at AFT is simple—we listen first and act as a true partner. By working closely with the Partex team, we were able to identify a solution that not only met their technical targets but also improved energy efficiency and overall economics. Acting as an unbiased expert allows us to focus on what matters most: solving real customer challenges,” said Sourav Das, VP Asia-Pacific at AFT.
