Clearwater Paper releases 2026 Sustainability Report
Clearwater Paper Corporation has released its 2026 Sustainability Report, providing an annual update on the company’s progress towards its multiyear sustainability goals.
The report is aligned with Clearwater Paper’s strategic sustainability framework, Everyday Responsibility, and details initiatives and results across three pillars: Resource Stewardship, Trusted Products, and Thriving People and Communities.
“At Clearwater Paper, we build responsibility into every step of our work to ensure our employees work safely, source materials responsibly, operate our mills efficiently, develop sustainable products and support the communities where we operate,” said Arsen Kitch, President and Chief Executive Officer.
“While 2025 was a challenging year for our industry because of a supply-driven downturn, we remained focused on what we can control: managing costs, serving our customers and continuing to make the capital investments necessary to maintain and improve the performance of our assets. We believe this focus is key to the company’s long-term success.”
The 2026 report reviews the company’s progress during 2025 and presents achievements, initiatives and examples that illustrate the Everyday Responsibility framework.
Among the results highlighted, Clearwater Paper reduced its lost-time injury rate by more than 50% year on year. It also reported a reduction of more than 20% in safety risks through its aspects and impacts process.
The company reduced Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions and integrated its Augusta facility into its greenhouse gas emissions reporting processes.
Water intake intensity improved by 6%, moving Clearwater Paper closer to its target of a 10% reduction by 2030.
The Lewiston and Cypress Bend mills received Biodegradable Products Institute compostability certification covering most folding carton and food-service grades.
The report also notes the launch in early 2026 of Velora™, a new lightweight paperboard option.
Clearwater Paper continued supporting non-profit organisations, local schools and the communities in which it operates through charitable donations, grants, employee volunteering and sustainability education initiatives.
