Sustainability becomes a management tool at CHT Group

CHT Group further integrated sustainability into its corporate management during fiscal year 2025, making environmental, economic and social objectives increasingly measurable and embedding them into business processes, decision-making and product development. The progress is outlined in the company’s latest Sustainability Report 2025.

One of the Group’s major achievements was the German Sustainability Award 2026 in the product category for its innovative PIGMENTURA dyeing process. According to CHT, the technology combines resource conservation with tangible benefits for customers, highlighting the role of innovation in the company’s sustainability strategy.

Independent assessments also recognised CHT Group’s progress. The company achieved 81 points and Gold status in the EcoVadis sustainability assessment, placing it among the top 5% of companies in its industry worldwide. It was also named “Best Managed Company 2026” as part of the programme organised by Deloitte Private, UBS, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and the Federation of German Industries (BDI).

During 2025, CHT Group continued to develop its sustainability management system by aligning its reporting with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), with the aim of increasing the transparency and comparability of its environmental and social performance. A global climate and water risk analysis was also carried out across all CHT sites, identifying measures designed to further reduce these risks.

At operational level, the Group implemented a number of climate protection initiatives. These included switching to renewable electricity at its sites in the United Kingdom, Brazil and Shanghai, as well as investing in its own photovoltaic system in Torreón. Other projects included the implementation of a biomass-based heating system at the Dußlingen site.

CHT Group also introduced automated Product Carbon Footprint calculations to increase transparency throughout the value chain. The system allows emissions associated with individual products to be analysed and provides a basis for targeted measures to reduce their carbon footprint.

Progress was also reported in the social dimension of the Group’s sustainability strategy. More than 95% of CHT employees worldwide currently receive compensation above the applicable living wage level, with the company aiming to extend this standard to all employees by 2030.

The developments recorded during 2025 reflect CHT Group’s transition towards a sustainability approach based increasingly on measurable indicators and management processes. At the same time, sustainability continues to play a central role in the company’s innovation strategy, competitiveness and long-term development.
