Monadnock Paper Mills reports progress in responsible manufacturing and fiber-based innovation
Monadnock Paper Mills has released its 2025 Corporate Sustainability Report, Momentum: Building on Our Legacy to Create a More Sustainable Future, outlining progress in responsible manufacturing, operational efficiency, fiber-based product innovation, employee engagement and community responsibility.
The company, which describes itself as the oldest continuously operating paper mill in the United States, highlighted the continued development of its sustainability strategy while maintaining a focus on adapting its product portfolio and manufacturing operations to changing market requirements.
“Continuity does not mean standing still,” said Andrew Manns, President and CEO of Monadnock Paper Mills. “It means building on our foundation while maintaining the agility to evolve. Our 2025 progress reflects the dedication of our employees, the strength of our partnerships and our continued commitment to creating sustainable fiber-based solutions for a changing world.”
During 2025, Monadnock expanded its portfolio of renewable, fiber-based alternatives to single-use plastics with the introduction of several new solutions, including TÜV-certified Compostable Card, Harvest Envi PC 100 Performance Board and Blockout Carrier. The new materials address applications ranging from signage and packaging to cards, reflecting the company’s strategy of combining material performance with more responsible fiber-based alternatives.
Progress across manufacturing and sustainability
At its manufacturing operations, Monadnock continued its efforts to reduce waste, increase the use of post-consumer recycled fiber and improve energy and water efficiency. The company also continued generating renewable electricity through its onsite hydroelectric facility.
Its sustainability performance was recognised with an EcoVadis Platinum rating for the second consecutive year, placing Monadnock among the top 1% of more than 90,000 companies assessed worldwide. The company was also inducted into the International Green Industry Hall of Fame.
Alongside its environmental and manufacturing initiatives, the report highlighted Monadnock’s activities involving employees and local communities. These included the work of its Green Team and Community Action Teams, its partnership with Monadnock Worksource and employee participation in local food drives, career fairs, health initiatives, programmes supporting veterans and other community activities.
Through these initiatives, Monadnock Paper Mills continued to combine improvements in manufacturing efficiency with the development of fiber-based materials and broader environmental and social programmes.
