Billerud Invests in Next-Level Fluting Performance at Gruvön

Billerud is advancing its position within the premium Containerboard segment through a focused investment at its Gruvön facility. The installation of a new headbox on the mill’s paper machine will elevate the performance of Billerud Flute®, the company’s flagship fluting grade, by improving strength properties, runnability and overall product uniformity.
The upgrade is designed to refine fibre orientation, deliver more uniform sheet formation and support higher strength levels – all of which are key advantages for converters and brand owners operating under demanding logistics conditions and varying climate requirements.
“Billerud Flute is already recognized for its world-class performance and reliability. This investment ensures we continue to lead the industry in fresh fiber fluting, delivering measurable performance and sustainability improvements for our customers,” says Johan Wallin, Acting VP Business Area Paperboard at Billerud.
The rebuild is scheduled for April 2026, with the launch of the next-generation Billerud Flute planned for the second half of 2026.
“This is another step in our long-term strategy to deliver high-performing, renewable packaging materials that enable lower total cost of ownership and reduce environmental impact,” adds Johan Wallin.
