DS Smith plans USA, Poland and Spain expansion

DS Smith plans to expand further into the US market and open two new factories. The UK-based group has been on an acquisition spree. This year it made its entry into the US with a $920m deal for a majority stake in Interstate Resources.

Chief executive Miles Roberts hinted there might be more deals to come in the US, saying he wanted “to build a big position there”. “We very much hope to expand and grow in the States. Whether that’s double, treble the size, I don’t know at the moment,” he said.

DS Smith is also planning new manufacturing sites in Poland and Spain.
