Stora Enso is executing the investment of approximately EUR 110 million in converting the Varkaus Mill fine paper machine in Finland to produce virgin-fibre-based containerboard. Following the conversion into a linerboard machine, Varkaus Mill’s capacity will be about 390 000 tonnes per year of kraftliner and 310 000 tonnes of brown unbleached kraft pulp and the containerboard machine is scheduled to start up during the fourth quarter of 2015. Stora Enso has placed an order for Procemex-TWIN integrated Web Monitoring & Web Inspection Systems for Varkaus PM3.
These deliveries cover a complete web break analyzing with 20 smart cameras and paper defect and quality inspection with multiple inspection geometries for the entire production line. The system will be delivered in last quarter of 2015.
The systems utilize Procemex-Flex high speed smart camera technology together with strobe LED illumination. The technology has been especially developed to cover high quality inspection needs. We are glad that Stora Enso trusted us again with this conversion project. This order is the 32th order bringing Procemex imaging technology on Stora Enso paper-, board- or coating machines, says Jari Keränen, Sales Director of Procemex.
