Zeus Packaging Group, one of Europe’s fastest-growing packaging companies, has completed the acquisition of Simpac Limited, the UK’s longest-established manufacturer of paper sacks and packaging, recognised for more than a century of expertise and commitment to sustainable innovation.

Established in 1903, Simpac has built a strong reputation as a market leader in fibre-based packaging, supplying customised paper sacks, branded food wraps, carrier bags, and eco-friendly e-commerce mailers to some of the UK’s largest retailers, food processors, and agricultural producers. With production facilities in Hull and Glasgow and a workforce of over 130 employees, the company generates annual revenues exceeding £30 million. Over the years, Simpac has repeatedly been honoured at the UK Packaging Awards for its dedication to sustainability and innovation.

Among its pioneering developments are the Good-e™ eco mailing bag, a recyclable alternative to conventional plastic mailers, and the Deliver-e™ Lift Liner, a patented system designed to improve efficiency in food retail home delivery and Click & Collect services. The company has also invested in tamper-evident liners, branded retail bags, and recyclable food wraps such as parchment, clingfilm, and baking foil. In addition, its paper sack expertise supports the agricultural sector with breathable solutions for root vegetables and robust sacks for animal feed and other farm inputs, underlining the breadth of its capabilities across multiple industries.

The acquisition creates strong synergies. Zeus customers will benefit from Simpac’s advanced manufacturing expertise and innovative sustainable products, while Simpac’s clients will gain access to Zeus’s European supply chain network, global procurement power, and broad production capabilities in corrugated packaging, film extrusion, tapes and labels, and retail bags. Together, the two businesses form one of the most comprehensive packaging portfolios in Europe, offering customers greater choice, improved sustainability, and the advantages of economies of scale in retail, e-commerce, food, industrial, and agricultural markets.

Brian O’Sullivan, Owner & Founder of Zeus Packaging Group, commented: “Simpac has consistently demonstrated innovation, from its Good-e™ mailers to the Paper Lift Liner, which is already reshaping food retail delivery. Their expertise in sacks, wraps, and branded packaging is a perfect complement to our broader capabilities in retail, e-commerce, industrial, food, and agricultural packaging. We see clear opportunities for investment in sustainable solutions and strong synergies that will deliver significant value to our customers.”

Sandy Bole, Managing Director of Simpac, added: “For over a century, Simpac has been trusted by retailers, producers, and distributors to deliver reliable and high-quality packaging solutions. Innovation has always been at the heart of our business — from branded food wraps and sustainable mailers to technologies like the Paper Lift Liner that enhance productivity. Becoming part of Zeus provides us with the scale, resources, and international reach to accelerate these innovations and deliver even greater value to our customers worldwide.”
