VGP completes €10 million expansion in Latvia

Van Genechten Packaging (VGP) has finalized a €10 million investment in its Latvian subsidiary, VG Kvadra Pak JSC, with the official inauguration of the expanded production facility in Riga. The project, completed on schedule and operational since 1 March 2026, strengthens VGP’s industrial footprint in the Baltic and Nordic markets, confirming Latvia as a strategic manufacturing base for the Group.
The expansion includes the installation of advanced converting technologies, upgraded production systems and additional energy-efficient storage capacity. Beyond increasing output, the investment also improves working conditions and supports the company’s ongoing focus on innovation and operational excellence.
Frank Ohle, CEO of VGP, highlighted the significance of the project: “The team at VG Kvadra Pak JSC has delivered this investment on time, raising the bar in quality, safety and service. It represents another important step in our development and reflects our belief that craftsmanship, technology and partnership together create real value.”
Roberts Vasiļevskis, General Director of VG Kvadra Pak JSC, underlined the regional impact of the expansion: “This project strengthens our position in the Baltics and Scandinavia and complements VGP’s broader network in Eastern Europe. It allows us to offer greater flexibility and higher service levels to our customers, while also contributing to the local economy.”
The project was carried out while maintaining full production at the site, presenting significant operational challenges. Existing infrastructure, including a 40-metre-high building, was dismantled without interrupting manufacturing activities, while maintaining strict quality and food safety standards.
