UPM Adhesive Materials strengthens advanced label production capacity in North America

UPM Adhesive Materials is set to expand its footprint in the fast-growing segment of advanced label materials with a strategic investment at its Mills River facility in North Carolina, USA. The project includes the installation of proprietary coating technology designed to substantially boost the plant’s output of high-value advanced label products. This move aims to secure a stronger position for the company in key sectors such as wine & spirits, industrial applications, pharmaceuticals, and postal services, where demand for premium labeling solutions continues to rise.
“The introduction of our new coating technology marks an important step in enhancing our capabilities in advanced label material production,” stated Brinder Gill, Senior Vice President, Americas, UPM Adhesive Materials. “By locating this capacity in Mills River, we are also ensuring closer proximity to our customers throughout the Americas, improving our ability to support their growth.”
For more than 25 years, the Mills River factory has been a cornerstone in the production of pressure-sensitive label materials under the Raflatac name. With this investment, the site will continue to deliver high-quality paper and film label solutions while expanding into advanced label materials to meet evolving market needs.
