Suzano to buy Kimberly-Clark’s tissue assets in Brazil
Suzano announced an agreement to acquire KC Brazil’s tissue assets in Brazil. The main asset included in the deal is a tissue production plant located in the state of Sao Paulo with annual production capacity of approximately 130,000 tons. The acquisition will increase Suzano’s Brazilian tissue operations to an annual capacity of approximately 280,000 tons.
Suzano also acquired the brand “Neve” and the rights to use international brands currently used by KC Brazil. The transaction does not include KC Brazil’s personal care segment. The transaction is subject to verification of precedent conditions, including antitrust approval.
Suzano is the world’s leading producer of market pulp, with 11 million tons of BEKP market pulp capacity. The company is pursuing a new mill in Ribas do Rio Pardo (Cerrado Project) that will increase its annual capacity by 2.55 million tons to 13.6 million tons, which should start operating in the second half of 2024. Suzano is also the leading producer of printing and writing paper in Brazil, as well as paperboard, with a total production capacity of 1.4 thousand tons of paper.
