Sonoco to invest $30 million to expand adhesives production capacity

Sonoco has announced a $30 million investment to expand its adhesives production capacity. This strategic move aims to support the growing demand in the paper and packaging industries, particularly for sustainable, high-performance adhesive solutions.

The investment will be directed toward upgrading existing manufacturing facilities and implementing state-of-the-art technologies to improve efficiency, product quality, and environmental performance. The expansion will also include increased production capabilities for water-based adhesives used in paperboard and tissue packaging applications.

According to Jeff Tomaszewski, Vice President and General Manager of Sonoco’s Industrial Paper Packaging division, this expansion reflects the company’s long-term commitment to innovation and sustainability in the paper value chain. “As customer needs evolve and demand for environmentally responsible adhesives continues to rise, we are positioning ourselves to meet these challenges with advanced solutions,” he said.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026 and will enhance Sonoco’s ability to serve customers across North America and globally. By expanding its adhesives production, Sonoco also strengthens its vertically integrated model, supporting its recycled paperboard and converting operations.

This latest investment follows a series of initiatives by Sonoco to optimize its portfolio and infrastructure in line with global trends toward circularity and lower environmental impact.
