RDM Group, the largest recycled cartonboard producer in Italy, France, the Netherlands and in the Iberian Peninsula, receives the PPI Award 2022 in the “Risk and Safety” category. The winners were announced during the Fastmarkets RISI European Conference, held on March 8-10th, in Lisbon. As the only global recognition in the pulp and paper industry, the PPI Awards celebrate industry excellence in the categories of leadership, vision, innovation and strategic achievements.

RDM Group firmly pursues the principle of ensuring the well-being and safety of all employees. For this reason, the Group applies a policy based on the “Zero Accident” vision, which guides RDM Group’s H&S management system and promotes a safety culture at all levels. In this regard, RDM Group decided to include in its Sustainability Plan 2020-2030 the implementation of a Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) program in all plants by 2023.

“Safety First is not just a slogan for RDM Group. It’s an essential value in which we believe and which we are committed to on a daily basis.” – comments Michele Bianchi, CEO of RDM Group – “This is confirmed by the important international recognition granted to the Group. We are really proud of this award as well as of the results obtained in 2021. Also, thanks to the successful implementation of the BBS protocol in Santa Giustina mill, we achieved indeed the best safety performance ever for the Group, which pays off the great efforts and dedication of all our people.”

The Behavior-Based safety (BBS) protocol represents a milestone in RDM Group’s safety journey: following the launch of the pilot project in Santa Giustina mill (Italy), the program is being implemented also in Villa Santa Lucia mill (Italy). In 2022 other plants will start their BBS implementation to meet the publicly declared goal.
