Metsä Group divests its pole business to ScanPole Ltd.

Metsäliitto Cooperative, the parent company of Metsä Group, has agreed on the sale, dated on 31 December 2014, of the entire share capital of Metsä Wood’s UK-based pole business subsidiary Burt Boulton & Haywood Ltd to ScanPole Ltd, a subsidiary of Iivari Mononen Oy. The employees of BBH, a total of 29 people, will transfer to the buyer as existing employees.

With the transaction Metsä Wood will discontinue the pole business and according to the industrial efficiency strategy the company will focus on its core businesses – industrial scale production and sales of Nordic sawn timber, timber upgrades, plywood and Kerto®. The sale is estimated to be completed by the end of the first half of 2015, and it will not have any appreciable effect on Metsä Wood’s result.
