Voith to continue stock preparation services for Saica UK
Darren Hoyle, Mill Maintenance Manager at Saica Paper UK, and Jordan Whyatt, Service Technician at Voith Paper, reaffirm the long-term service partnership between the two companies with the extension of the mechanical maintenance contract for the stock preparation line.

Saica Paper UK continues its collaboration with Voith and has extended the ongoing service contract for mechanical maintenance in the stock preparation area, a partnership that has been in place since 2019. The extended agreement focuses on effective maintenance planning, optimized resource utilization, timely repairs and efficient troubleshooting.

Thanks to continuous support through Voith’s process technology expertise, the cooperation ensures the availability and performance of the stock preparation system remains at design level – even as the Partington plant enters its 14th year of operation.

“Last year we had uninterrupted machine production by eliminating unplanned stoppages from stock preparation, which improved both productivity and quality of our paper. Success of the service contract has been achieved by working with shared goals,” explains Darren Hoyle, Mill Maintenance Manager at Saica Paper UK.

Voith’s collaborative service approach is based on the long-term integration of its service specialists into the mill’s maintenance team. This enables transparent communication and accurate, real-time information exchange to allow proactive and flexible deployment of service resources.

“The proactive wear part exchange program has eradicated unplanned stoppages and reduced overall operating costs,” adds Jordan Whyatt, Service Technician at Voith Paper. “Plus, safety is always at the forefront of our maintenance and is reinforced, for example, through a safety card system, safety audits and toolbox talk initiatives.”

The strong partnership between Saica Paper UK and Voith highlights the importance of close collaboration and common objectives in achieving long-term operational reliability, optimized performance and enhanced safety standards in stock preparation.
