Stora Enso announces executive team for future forest asset company

Stora Enso has revealed the executive management team that will lead the new forest asset company planned to be demerged from the group. The spin-off is currently expected to be completed during the first half of 2027.

The leadership structure of the new company will consist of four members. Tuomas Hallenberg, who previously served as Executive Vice President of Stora Enso’s Forest business area, assumed the role of President and CEO of the future company in January 2026. The other executives appointed to the management team are Martin Ros as Chief Financial Officer, Johan Djurberg as Head of Forestry and Pontus Selderman as General Counsel.

Tuomas Hallenberg brings extensive experience in forest sector leadership. Before taking responsibility for Stora Enso’s Forest business area in 2024, he held senior executive roles at Metsähallitus, Finland’s state-owned forestry company, as well as at UPM. Hallenberg holds a Master of Science in Forestry from the University of Joensuu.

Martin Ros has worked within Stora Enso for several years in different leadership roles. Most recently he served as Senior Vice President for Strategy and Finance in the Biomaterials business area. His academic background includes forestry studies at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and business studies at Umeå University.

Johan Djurberg, currently Vice President of Wood Supply at Billerud, will join the new company no later than June 2026. Earlier in his career he worked at Stora Enso in several senior roles related to wood supply, forestry operations and supply chain management. Djurberg also holds a Master of Science degree from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Umeå.

Pontus Selderman currently serves as Senior Vice President for Forest Legal and ESG Regulatory at Stora Enso. His professional background spans business law, compliance, intellectual property and regulatory matters. He holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from Uppsala University.

The announcement represents another step in Stora Enso’s plan to separate its forest assets into a dedicated company, a move aimed at sharpening strategic focus and creating additional value within its forestry operations.
