Stora Enso publishes climate resilience plan with 2030 emissions pathway

Stora Enso released a new climate resilience plan setting out how the company intends to strengthen climate action, support target delivery and prepare the business for future climate scenarios. The plan includes a forecast for emissions reductions across Scope 1, 2 and 3 through 2030.

According to the company, by the end of 2025 its Scope 1 and 2 CO2e emissions were 61% lower than the 2019 base year, while estimated Scope 3 emissions were 38% lower over the same period. Stora Enso’s stated objective is to reach a 50% reduction across all scopes by 2030.

The resilience plan also describes how climate-related factors are embedded into Stora Enso’s strategy and operational decision-making, including the role of Board oversight. As part of the measures outlined, Stora Enso committed to phasing out coal, which accounted for 2% of the Group’s total energy consumption in 2025.
