On 15 September 2026, the Toulouse Commercial Court allowed Fibre Excellence Saint-Gaudens to continue operating for another three months while a takeover proposal is finalised.

Occitanie committed €3.5 million and secured a further €2 million commitment from the French government to support operations through December. An updated bid must be submitted by 22 October, ahead of a hearing in early November.

Occitanie President Carole Delga welcomed the ruling as a relief for employees, families and unions following more than nine months of efforts to safeguard the mill. She said the two industrial parties had additional time to complete a project she considered viable and profitable, with further discussions scheduled that afternoon.

“We have fought alongside them from the beginning and we were right never to give up!” said Carole Delga.

Delga pledged continued regional support for the industrial partners and workforce throughout the takeover process, describing the protection of France’s last pulp producer as its objective.
