Metsä Group opens summer job applications for 2026 across Finland

Metsä Group announced the opening of its summer job application period, which will remain open until 15 February 2026. The Group is offering a wide range of responsible summer job opportunities across Finland, including positions at production sites, within group functions, business areas and wood supply districts.

Students from a broad range of educational backgrounds are encouraged to apply, whether they are at the beginning of their studies or at a more advanced stage. The summer positions are designed to support learning, professional development and practical experience across different parts of Metsä Group’s operations.

Proven to be valuable summer jobs

Metsä Group’s summer employees are offered the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the forest industry, industrial environments, production processes and equipment, as well as tasks related to wood supply and forest services. In addition, trainees can further develop expertise in their own fields while applying academic knowledge in a practical working environment.

Summer traineeships are intended to strengthen professional competence and provide exposure to diverse roles. Beyond technical skills, summer jobs also support the development of key working life competencies, including independence, problem-solving, teamwork and leadership.

Metsä Group has received consistently positive feedback as a summer employer. According to internal surveys, 94% of last summer’s summer employees indicated that they would recommend Metsä Group as an employer to a friend. In a summer job survey conducted by Duunitori, respondents highlighted the strong sense of community, a supportive and inclusive working atmosphere, and equal treatment. Flexible working hours and fair compensation were also frequently mentioned.

Summer job as a career kickstart

Commenting on the programme, Pertti Hietaniemi, Senior Vice President, Human Resources at Metsä Group, stated: “Metsä Group’s summer jobs offer opportunities to learn, develop and build networks for the future. Feedback from the summer job survey shows the openness and supportiveness of our work community and that summer employees are genuinely involved in meaningful work. Our goal is to provide every summer employee with a valuable experience and a strong start to their future career.”

Metsä Group emphasised its commitment to developing a diverse, equal and inclusive work culture in which everyone has the opportunity to succeed and be a full member of the work community. As part of this approach, the Group applies anonymous recruitment, ensuring that all applicants are assessed on equal terms. Additional information about the anonymous recruitment process is available on Metsä Group’s website, including a dedicated guide video.
