Lucart signs an agreement to acquire control of Cartindustria Eurocarta

Lucart S.p.A., the Lucca-based multinational paper group, has signed a binding agreement to acquire a controlling stake in Cartindustria Eurocarta S.r.l., one of Europe’s leading independent converters of tissue products for the Away-From-Home (AFH) professional hygiene market.
This strategic operation reinforces both companies’ roles as key players in the professional tissue segment and represents an important step toward strengthening Lucart Group’s presence in the AFH channel. The acquisition is aimed at enhancing industrial efficiency, improving competitiveness across international markets, and capitalizing on the strong commercial reputation and expertise of the Porcari-based company.
In 2024, Cartindustria Eurocarta recorded a turnover of €78.5 million, converting more than 40,000 tonnes of product, with 44% of sales generated in Italy and 56% abroad. The company employs approximately 70 people at its Porcari (Lucca) site, located adjacent to Lucart’s production base — a proximity that offers clear advantages in terms of industrial and logistical synergies.
Francesco Pasquini, CEO of Lucart, commented: “A long-standing customer of our semi-finished products, Cartindustria Eurocarta is the ideal partner to continue our Group’s growth strategy in the AFH channel. Its production flexibility and customer-centric approach align perfectly with Lucart’s value proposition, allowing us to better meet the needs of the European professional market. Moreover, the strong understanding with the Agati Family and the trust in the current management made this partnership a natural step that will strengthen both Eurocarta and our Group. With this operation, Lucart further consolidates its leadership in the Italian AFH market and its position as the second-largest producer of professional products in Europe.”
Founded in 1993, Cartindustria Eurocarta has over thirty years of experience, a wide and tailored product offering, and a solid presence in both the Italian and French markets. With annual output exceeding 40,000 tonnes and a turnover of around €80 million, the company stands today as the largest independent European converter dedicated exclusively to hygiene and cleaning products for the away-from-home sector.
Paolo Agati, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Cartindustria Eurocarta, stated: “Lucart’s entry into our corporate structure marks a pivotal milestone for our company. This strategic move ensures continuity, sustainability, and strength in the growth journey we have undertaken over the past decade, enhancing our ability to compete on a European scale. By combining our expertise in the converting market with Lucart’s industrial vision and organisational strength, we are better equipped to face the challenges of a constantly evolving sector.”
Simona Agati, Chief Executive Officer of Cartindustria Eurocarta, added: “Shared entrepreneurial values and a strong understanding with the Pasquini family are the foundation of this partnership. With Lucart, we share the same business philosophy, focused on quality, respect for people, and sustainability. Working together means combining complementary skills and perspectives, with the aim of continuing to innovate and grow, facing today’s challenges with unity and building a solid future for our employees, customers, and partners.”
The industrial integration between Lucart and Cartindustria Eurocarta will enable the optimisation of production and commercial processes, increasing overall efficiency along the value chain and creating new opportunities for industrial development. Another key goal of this agreement is to expand geographical coverage in strategic markets -particularly Italy and France – where both companies have established strong and enduring relationships with customers over time.
Finally, this partnership between two historic companies from the Lucca district aims to promote a shared corporate culture that unites family tradition with a forward-looking commitment to innovation, sustainability, and growth.
