SAEL provides the second step of the rebuilding drive, by “REBORN One Platform”, at Burgo Mosaico in Tolmezzo, Italy
Burgo Mosaico Group submitted the PM3 Drive rebuilding to SAEL. The 2nd step will start in august 2022. The project started in 2021: this first step involved the dry zone drive. Having met the expectations, Burgo management moved forward to the 2nd step: the drive digitalization.
Whenever the first SAEL REBORN was applied thirty-five years ago, its technology is still appreciated in the paper mill industry. Actually, it revamps, and updates, the old analogical DC drives into a modern digital device, with higher performances as well as cheaper costs. The SAEL REBORN technology provides a last generation system, reliable, and totally integrated with the DCS in Drive “Scalink”: easy to drive, full of information showed to the machine operators.
Once again, SAEL’s REBORN system, proved to be the simplest and most flexible unit for the reconstruction in paper mill plants. The fact that the REBORN system has been adopted in almost all the plants and machine types of the Burgo Group, has given us an advantage when offering the reference cascade with “SAEL SECTIONAL DRIVE”; the sole system based on SAEL’s intelligent drive which does not use a centralized cascade controller. The communication between the Drives is via CAN-BUS (indiscriminately weather AC or DC). This ensures a very high refresh speed between the participants of the cascade.
Can-Bus is a multi-master communication system as opposed to a master and slave system which is used by a lot of our competitors. This protocol enables us to manage fully every communication. With the programming and DCS Scalink tools SAEL store every single variable of the system without time limits allowing very detailed system analysis. Any network malfunction or error in communication or drive fault is memorized together with the time at which it happened, so that it is possible to see what had happened later on in time and to diagnose precisely whether it was a breakdown, or a malfunction related to the drive. Also, in this case the application of the REBORN racks, reused the SCR bridges of the old drives, the transformers and contactors and other reusable electrical and electromechanical components. Teams of electricians working in shifts, modified the existing drives at the paper mill, inserting the reborn kit , PLC and all the CAN-BUS communication network.
