Hadfield Wood Recyclers to supply CHP biomass plant in Wrexham, North Wales

Hadfield Wood Recyclers has won a contract to supply 45,000 tonnes of biomass fuel to a new 5.4 MW wood-fuelled plant in Wrexham, North Wales.

The GBP 25 million ($32.7 million) project will generate 34 GWh of green energy a year, enough to power 2,400 homes. As a combined heat and power plant it will also have the potential to provide heat to nearby manufacturing businesses.

The project is being developed by Liverpool-based Green Plan Energy and is expected to cut greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 6,000 tonnes CO2 every year – the equivalent of removing 2,800 cars from the road.

Hadfield Wood Recyclers is one of the oldest and biggest wood recyclers in the UK and operates from three sites in Manchester, Middlesbrough and Essex.
