ANDRITZ to deliver new recovery boiler to Century Pulp and Paper in India

International technology group ANDRITZ has been awarded a contract to supply a new recovery boiler for Century Pulp and Paper’s integrated mill in Lalkuan, Uttarakhand, India. The investment will replace one of the mill’s existing recovery boilers and is aimed at boosting the production of green energy. Start-up of the new unit is planned for the first quarter of 2027.
The recovery boiler, designed for a capacity of 950 tds/d, will be delivered on an EPC basis. The scope of supply also covers an electrostatic precipitator to guarantee very low particulate emissions at the stack. The boiler is specifically engineered to process black liquor obtained from a fibre mix including hardwood, bamboo and bagasse.
Ajay Gupta, CEO of Century Pulp and Paper, stated: “Our new recovery boiler from ANDRITZ will significantly enhance our mill’s environmental performance and ensure a reliable supply of green energy for many years to come.”
Sridhar Gopalan, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of ANDRITZ Technologies India, added: “We greatly value the trust placed in our technology and our people. ANDRITZ recovery boiler solutions provide clear benefits in terms of safety, reliability and operating efficiency.”
This marks the seventh recovery boiler that ANDRITZ will deliver to customers in India, confirming its strong position in the country’s pulp and paper industry.
