Chinese firm to build $1B pulp mill in U.S.

Chinese papermaker Sun Paper is building its first North American facility – a US$1-billion pulp mill in Arkansas.
Hongxin Li, chairman and founder of Sun Paper, joined Governor Asa Hutchinson for the announcement in the Arkansas State.
Sun Paper chairman Li describes the new mill as “the most modern, the highest efficiency, the most environmentally progressive factory in the pulp and paper industry in all of North America.”
Sun Paper hopes to begin construction in the first half of 2017 on the mill, which will convert wood into pulp to be used for paper production. The plant is expected to take two and a half years to build.
