SAEL will supply a complete Paper Machine Drive and Automation rebuilding, assigned by an important International Paper Mill group in Italy

The International Papermill Group in the Fabriano area in Italy, in sourcing to SAEL, is preparing a huge investment in the upcoming month, by rebuilding the drive and automation of its paper machine. The investment involves a lot of parts: implementations and mechanical adding, in a turn-a-key solution, fully assigned to SAEL partner Indexa. The new nominal sectional drive power, increased by the same value, has consequently led the paper mill to renew the drives as well as the DCS in drive SAEL machine control. As a consequence of this strategical choice, the customer not only changed the drives, but it turned into a new mindset engaging SAEL as a partner for this important investment.

“In SAEL philosophy we want to provide to our customers ONE, and only one, solution for all their challenges; save time and money, providing them not less than the most updated and revolutionary technology existing in the market. The SAEL scope of this project is to provide the new cabinets for AC motors of the machine, vacuum pumps and normal pumps; the number of drives involved on the project are more then 50. Our Platform ONE drives, together with the complete DCS Scalink, manages the Board machine at the best, reducing costs of the spare parts, faults and substitution timing. With Platform ONE drives by SAEL, papermill will use only ONE electronic card as a spare part. The old electrical cabinets will be completely removed and changed with a new long-life system: a full digital solution in drives and automation”, says Paolo Andrighetti, Sales Manager Paper Division SAEL.

With the new DCS Scalink, with three 22-inch screens installed for 3 different engineering stations -with integrate redundancy system – the paper mill will get in one hand the complete machine, controlling its production in a perfect way. On top of that, a new control desks will be distributed along the board machine, giving to the operators of the paper mill a complete dynamic new prospective. They will be able to control the complete process: from the paper formation to the Pope reel.

“Moreover, in a second future step, it will be possible to add in the DCS Scalink, other existing PLC around the paper mills process, such as stock preparation, vacuum pumps, steam etc. In this way we give to the paper mill the opportunity to gather all in one system and perform in the best way possible,” added Andrighetti.
