Paper Corea starts up ANDRITZ shoe press with record line load for packaging paper in South Korea
Paper Corea Inc. has successfully started up a PrimePress X shoe press supplied by international technology group ANDRITZ at its paper mill in Gunsan, South Korea. The installation represents a notable achievement, as the press operates with the highest line load ever installed for paper production in South Korea, enabling stronger and more durable paper while improving production efficiency through optimised dewatering and higher machine speeds.
The ANDRITZ scope of supply included a PrimePress X shoe press engineered for high-efficiency dewatering, an integrated VIB SteamTech steam box, and press section fabrics. Key benefits and results achieved:
- dryness increase of more than 5%, substantially reducing steam consumption
- proven energy savings of up to 20%, contributing to sustainability targets
- over 30% improvement in the 2-sigma CD moisture profile
- high-quality paper delivered from the very first run
- compact design ensuring long-term operational reliability
The start-up followed a smooth and timely installation process thanks to the close cooperation between the Paper Corea and ANDRITZ teams, ensuring seamless integration of the new equipment into the existing paper machine.
