Portuguese tissue producer Fapajal Papermaking S.A. awarded international technology group ANDRITZ the contract to supply a complete PrimeLine™ tissue production line for the mill located in São Julião do Tojal. The start-up was scheduled for the first half of 2027.

The new line was designed to manufacture high-quality toilet and kitchen tissue and will provide an annual production capacity of 30,000 tons. Through this investment, Fapajal strengthened its strategic development in the tissue segment.

The scope of supply included the main stock preparation systems, a PrimeLine™ tissue machine operating at 1,800 m/min with a width of 2.75 meters, a PrimePress shoe press to enhance bulk and softness, a steel Yankee, full automation and electrification systems, as well as basic and detailed engineering services.

“Fapajal is strongly committed towards growing its international business. As a niche player, this project is of strategic importance to us. From the start, ANDRITZ’s tailored solutions and the fast response from all the involved team members, gave us confidence in the successful execution of this project,” said Rui Sequeira Martins, CEO of Fapajal.

Ferruccio Marchisio, Manager Sales Tissue at ANDRITZ, added: “We value the trust Fapajal has placed in us and are proud to support them in this important step. This project reflects our shared focus on performance, reliability, and sustainable production.”

With this order, ANDRITZ strengthened its position in the European tissue market, building on the company’s recent achievements, including those gained through the acquisition of A.Celli Paper.
