Sun Paper successfully started up new process islands equipped with advanced technologies and solutions supplied by ANDRITZ at its kraft pulp mill in Nanning, Guangxi, China. The delivery scope covered major process equipment for the chemical recovery island, supporting Sun Paper’s circular economy strategy. ANDRITZ also supplied machinery for wood processing and pulp drying.

Mr. Ying Guangdong, Vice General Manager and Chief Engineer at Shandong Sun Paper, stated: “In the Nanning project, we had a very tight delivery schedule, and ANDRITZ made well-founded commitments. Of course, we also have full confidence in ANDRITZ’s chemical recovery technology and equipment. We have had a long history of cooperation and experience, working seamlessly together. The project’s successful start-up and rapid achievement of production verified our choice of ANDRITZ technology.”

The project further reinforces the strong, long-term partnership between the two companies. In recent years, ANDRITZ has executed several major installations for Sun Paper across its pulp and paper mill network. At the end of 2023, a high-kappa fiberline and a lime kiln plant supplied by ANDRITZ were successfully started up at the same Nanning facility.

The newly commissioned systems included the following equipment, supplied on an EPS (engineering, procurement, supervision) basis:

  • A lamella evaporation plant designed for high process availability, improved condensate quality, optimized steam economy, and high firing dry solids content
  • An ARC chloride removal system to recover valuable process chemicals
  • A recovery boiler engineered for maximized power generation and reduced flue gas emissions
  • An integrated white liquor plant featuring a recausticizing system and lime kiln equipped with a gasification plant for energy-efficient, fossil-free operation
  • A 360° Stacker Reclaimer ensuring efficient storage, reclaiming and continuous, homogeneous chip supply
  • A wet-lap system comprising a Twin Wire Press, cutter-layboy and baling line to ensure high operational availability and excellent final dryness
