In the course of the last decade, the world has greatly changed: globalization, the economic crisis, the quest for new identities and new markets have spurred companies to modify their behavior in order to remain competitive on the international scenario.

Recard S.p.A

The tissue paper industry is no exception and it is deeply changing, too. Today more than ever, we feel the need to unite the technological aspect that sees innovation as the basis of perpetual research and experimentation, with an “artisan” knowhow and with a relationship of renewed trust with customers. The tradition of the “artisan laboratory” thus becomes the starting point to build machines that confer greater guarantees of quality and efficiency. A philosophy that Recard S.p.A. – the Lucca company specialized in custom design and manufacture of equipment and machines for the tissue paper industry – has fully embodied, turning it into its greatest strength.

Artistry is also synonymous of uniqueness and this means that Recard products – machines and turnkey plants for the production of tissue paper, rewinders, pulp preparation machinery and the Rebuild Program to modify older machines into Crescent Formers – have features that differentiate them from one another because they are manufactured according to the different needs of every individual customer. For over fifty years, the watchword at Recard has been “customization”: there are no two machines alike. “This approach”, explains Mauro Michelini, General Manager of Recard S.p.A., “has been fully acknowledged and appreciated by the companies we have worked with and for us, seeing our customers’ loyalty in renewing their trust in Recard when it comes to expanding their production by purchasing new machines or modifying existing ones, is a source of great pride”.

And the number of contracts signed and orders received up to today certainly prove the company from Villa Basilica right. Of the 129 machines supplied by Recard in the course of these years to 73 companies in Italy and abroad, almost 40% went to customers who already have more than one Recard machine. An interesting figure concerns in particular some companies who have purchased more than 2 machines. In pole position is the Cartiere Carrara Group with a record of 13 machines: a relationship established in 1998 that continues to this day, confirming Recard’s absolute leadership as tissue machine supplier for the Lucca Paper District.

CMPC – Compañía Manufacturera de Papeles y Cartones – is a major partner, too, particularly for the Latin American market. Since 1990 Recard has designed and built 7 machines for them (3 of which running at a working speed of 2000 m/min) that, located in Chile, Peru, Mexico and Colombia, contribute to a total tissue production in excess of 600 thousand tons per year.

Among the companies that can count on 4 machines supplied by Recard, in addition to Canada’s Kruger Group with its facilities in Canada, Guatemala, Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, we find Saudi Paper Manufacturing Co., a tissue industry giant of the Persian Gulf and leading producer of reels in the area, who started out in 1990 thanks to the close collaboration with the Lucca company. Recard machines have almost exclusively contributed to making the history of Saudi Paper and today continue to represent the major brand of their technological park (4 out of 5 machines). Four customers have 3 machines each, among whom the Italian company Cartiera Partenope.

Recard’s rewinders are simple to use. They allow you to cut and pair quickly anywhere from one to four plies, according to your needs.
The proper preparation of the pulp mixture is the fundamental first step in obtaining a high-quality final product.

Since back in 1962, the year the company was founded, Recard has always tried to unite the extremely superior level of its machines – manufactured using high-quality Italian or European products featuring low energy consumption – with care in the relationship with its customers. “To grow together” has always been and continues to be the scope of the company’s way of working that sets it apart from all others. “For us, the customer comes above all else”, underscores Mauro Michelini. “Ours is a family-style approach, just like the one we have within the company itself, which continues to be run by the same families who founded it. The generational change has not affected this philosophy in interpersonal relations and we are very proud of this.” In a highly technological company always in the vanguard as far as innovation is concerned, the human factor continues to be foundationally essential. “Constant exchange with the customer”, continues Michelini, “starting with the very first phases of the project, allows creating a relationship of reciprocal trust and mutually sourcing precious information useful in optimizing the performance of the plant we are building. A closeness that continues on even after the machine has been supplied thanks to out 24h post-sales service that reduces interruptions in the production cycle to a minimum”.

We can say that what has made companies repeatedly choose Recard as provider of tissue paper machines is a mix of several ingredients: artistry, quality, uniqueness, competence, dedication, efficiency, reliability, leading-edge technology, flexibility, simplified organization and direct rapports with customers. And another element just as important must be added to this list: often its machines have shown greater performance compared to contractual warrantees and extremely short startup times.
