Monadnock Paper Mills celebrates 207 years of American papermaking

As the United States celebrates the 250th anniversary of its founding, Monadnock Paper Mills is highlighting more than two centuries of continuous papermaking, reaffirming its position as the oldest continuously operating paper mill in the United States.

Founded in 1819, the company has built 207 years of expertise by combining traditional papermaking craftsmanship with continuous innovation, adapting its products and manufacturing capabilities to meet changing market demands while maintaining a strong commitment to quality and sustainability.

Today, Monadnock produces a wide range of fine printing, packaging and technical papers serving brands, retailers, designers, printers, converters and manufacturers. Its products are used in applications including premium printing, packaging, retail signage, gift cards and a variety of specialty technical markets.

The company said its U.S.-based manufacturing model enables close collaboration with customers to develop paper grades tailored to specific performance, aesthetic and production requirements. Domestic manufacturing also provides improved supply chain visibility, responsive technical support and greater flexibility throughout product development.

By combining decades of papermaking knowledge with modern manufacturing technologies, Monadnock continues to develop solutions designed to meet evolving market requirements without compromising quality or performance.

Sustainability remains a central element of the company’s strategy.
