Andreas Birmoser appointed President of Pro Carton
Pro Carton, the European Association of Carton and Cartonboard Manufacturers, has appointed Andreas Birmoser, Executive Vice President, Cartonboard at Stora Enso, as its new President.
Andreas Birmoser succeeds Michele Bianchi, CEO of RDM Group, who has led the association over the past four years. During his tenure, Pro Carton underwent a significant transformation, including the integration of another cartonboard association and its evolution into a broader industry organization representing the entire cartonboard and folding carton value chain. This period also coincided with extensive discussions surrounding the European Union’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).
With more than two decades of experience in the forest products and cartonboard sectors, Birmoser brings extensive expertise in business strategy, commercial development and operational leadership. In his current role at Stora Enso, he oversees the company’s global cartonboard business. His international career has included senior management positions across Europe and South America, including serving as CEO of Veracel Celulose, where he played a key role in business transformation and growth initiatives.

As President, Birmoser will work closely with the Pro Carton Board to strengthen cooperation across the packaging value chain, promote the benefits of fibre-based packaging solutions and support the development of science-based and fact-driven policies that enhance both sustainability and competitiveness across the European cartonboard sector.
